Covid-19 health emergency has imposed a global test of smart working. In such a moment, teleworking has become the indispensable and irreplaceable productivity tool. Even densely populated countries such as China have had peak in teleworking and smart work. According to Bloomberg this is the largest telework experiment ever.

In Italy, for example, the government and health authorities have strongly encouraged work from home, in order to reduce the spread of COVID-19, favored by public transport and crowded offices. They did allocating millions of euros for consulting and training services aimed at adopting a smart working plan and for the purchase of technological tools aimed at implementation of the corporate smart working. But also derogating from current legislation: the employer was in fact allowed to start smart work even without a written agreement with the employee.

There are many important entities and companies that have gone in the same direction: among the most important Amazon, who recommended telework and BCE who arranged a telework trial for all its employees.

However, many companies tried to convert classic work into smart work in a very short time. And those who have not succeeded have had to leave their employees at home. In fact a PC on the network is not enough for smart-working and a week will hardly be enough to study a business plan for teleworking. Planning, reorganization of spaces, times and the management model are needed.
